Common Questions

It’s a common misconception that as a small independent we may be more expensive than high street retailers, such as Specsavers or Vision Express, but it’s simply not true. Our overheads are much lower than a large city centre store, so we can afford to pass those savings onto our customers. Our high street competitors spend hundreds of thousands of pounds on TV advertising campaigns, as they need a high footfall of customers to survive. And, our customers save money on fuel and parking too by staying local.

You should allow at least 30 minutes for your eye exam with Wood Street Optical, then extra time for choosing your glasses. We are extremely proud of the fact that we take the time to listen to your needs, instead of rushing you out of the door. It’s important to us that you’re happy with the service we provide and the glasses or contact lenses you purchase.

It's generally advised to have a comprehensive eye exam every one to two years, depending on factors like your age, family history of eye issues any existing eye conditions. Your optician can give you personalised advice based on your specific situation.

There are a few signs to watch out for, like blurry vision, frequent headaches, eye strain, or trouble focusing on objects. If you're experiencing any of these symptoms, it's a good idea to schedule an eye exam to see if glasses could help.

Choosing frames that match your face shape, skin tone, and personal style can be tricky. Your optician is there to help! They can suggest frames that compliment your features and ensure a comfortable fit, so you look and feel your best.

Yes, we have accounts with all major brands for frames, so if you’ve seen something you like online or in an advert, we will probably already stock it. If not, we can order them in for you to try. As an independent retailer we’re not limited to only dealing with selected brands.
